12 Best Donut Shops in Winnipeg That Local Sweet Lovers Are Obsessed With
If a sundae and a cake had a baby, it would be a donut: it has the fluffy base of a cake, with the drizzle, crunch, and colors of a fun sundae. Put them together, and you’ve got one of my go-to guilty pleasures of all time.
Whenever I start craving donuts (which, to be honest, is pretty often), I’m just thankful Winnipeg’s packed with seriously wonderful spots to satisfy my demanding sweet tooth.
To make it easier for my fellow glazed goodies worshippers, I’ve hunted down the best donut shops in the city that offer the fluffiest, most flavor-packed donuts.

Must-Order: Crème Brûlée Mochi Donut
Marchi Donut was opened by sisters Mariah and Marie, who claim they were the first to introduce mochi donuts to Winnipeggers. The shop’s name is a mash-up of their names and “mochi,” which we think is pretty cute.
If you’ve never had mochi donuts before, it’s a mix of a classic donut and the Japanese mochi. They’re made from glutinous rice flour, so each bite has that light, chewy texture that’s somehow both crispy and fluffy.
My personal favorite is the Crème Brûlée, which I swear is so luxurious. It’s dipped in caramel syrup, infused with dulce de leche ice cream, and coated in Belgian white chocolate before being torched to create a crispy, caramelized top.
In addition to mochi donuts, they also have Marchisada donuts—a genius blend of a traditional malasada and a mochi. These are fried to golden perfection and dusted with cinnamon sugar.
Pro Tip: The sisters love to experiment, so watch out for their Flavors of the Week features online for new goodies! But fair warning—these limited flavors sell out fast, so plan to swing by early.

Must-Order: Strawberry Yogurt Mochi Donut
Tring5 is a cozy, family-run establishment, known mostly for having the best rice triangles in the city (a popular Korean street food). But honestly, I come here just as much for their delicious donuts.
Their Japanese mochi donuts are where it’s at; the Pon de Ring selection is a total treat—soft, chewy, and perfectly sweet without overdoing it. My personal favorite is the Strawberry Yogurt flavor, which is lightly tangy and creamy.
Aside from its bouncier texture, what I love about mochi donuts is that they’re not overly sweet like the ones you usually get from big coffee chains. I can get two or three without feeling sugar-guilty.
To wash it down, try their refreshing selection of iced teas like Ginger Rooibos or Grapefruit Cream Earl Grey. If coffee’s more your speed, they have a lovely Matcha Strawberry Latte and Matcha Cream Frappe.
Pro Tip: If you order Tring5 donuts through DoorDash, you can score free delivery on your first order, which is a pretty neat bonus.

Must-Order: Honey Cruller
Crumb Queen/Andy’s Lunch brings the best of two worlds: it’s a part-pasta lunch spot and part-bakery. Their menu is inspired by the owners’ adventures in Italy and the charm of pastry shops in Paris, San Francisco, and Victoria.
They use high-quality local ingredients, and you can taste the difference. Examples include Deruyck’s organic grains, Prairie Mills flour, and Nature’s Farm eggs, with fresh produce sourced through Fireweed Food Hub.
If you swing by in the morning, get ready for a tough choice between flaky Danish, buttery croissants, or chewy cookies that melt in your mouth. As for me, I always choose their legendary Honey Crullers—light, choux-based donuts that are very addictive.
Pro Tip: Crumb Queen accepts catering requests for weddings, office gatherings, and more. Just email [email protected] at least 48 hours in advance.

Must-Order: Peanut Butter Cup
Pronuts WPG’s co-owners combined Michael’s sweet tooth with Norman’s fitness mindset to create the Pronut: a protein-packed donut that’s as tasty as it is guilt-free.
Each Pronut contains around 10 to 15 grams of protein, is low in sugar, and is completely gluten-free. My personal pick is the Peanut Butter Cup—soft, rich, nutty, and chocolatey, too!
They have a Pronut for everyone. Vegan picks include Carrot Cake and Red Velvet, and keto-friendly options are Coconut, Pumpkin Spice, and Ube Pistachio, just to name a few.
If you’re planning to stock up, keep your Pronuts in the fridge overnight to make them last up to five days, or you can freeze them for up to three months. Trust me, they reheat beautifully and still taste freshly baked.
Pro Tip: If you subscribe to Pronuts WPG’s newsletter, you can score 10% off your next order and stay in the loop for new flavors and exclusive deals.

Must-Order: Chocolate Donuts
Donut House is Winnipeg’s oldest (and some say finest) donut shop. It’s basically a local legend, frying up the city’s favorite donuts since 1952!
This shop makes a whopping 50-plus varieties by hand, and yes, they’re deep-fried to perfection. I recommend their gooey Chocolate Donuts—I’m so addicted to their texture: perfectly crisp on the outside, and soft inside.
They offer several dozen bundles from $26 to $45. Each one’s packed with their best creations: classic glazed, stuffed, or their famous crowd-pleasers.
You’ll also find plenty of other baked goodies and signature fresh breads that smell insanely good right out of the oven.
Pro Tip: Can’t decide between a donut and a slice of cake? Go for a luscious Cake Donut—they’re soft, moist, and come in fun flavors like Cherry Glaze, Vanilla M&M, and Old-Fashioned Glaze.

Must-Order: Grapefruit Curd Donut
Oh Doughnuts has been spreading joy and sugar highs across the city since 2014. They do it by refining every batch—each one takes around six hours to perfect, from mixing and cutting to proofing, frying, and adding yummy toppings.
We love that they use only top-tier, local ingredients. Their local flour comes from Prairie Flour Mills in Elie, eggs from Nature’s Farm in Steinbach, and butter from Notre Dame Creamery.
These premium ingredients allow them to create epic flavors like Pumpkin Spice Latte, Vanilla Sprinkles, and Honey Dip. They also offer seasonal items such as Tiramisu Cheesecake and Peanut Butter Cookies n’ Cream.
If I had to choose, I’d go for their Grapefruit Curd. It hits the right balance between refreshing and indulgent—the kind of donut that you’ll think about long after the last bite.
Pro Tip: Adventurous eaters would love their out-of-the-box flavors like Everything Bagel, Chicago Mix, or Ube (yes, the yam!). Luckily, they always experiment, so watch their socials for announcements about new creations.

Must-Order: Fruit Loops Cronut
Gâto Bakeshop is a West End hotspot that locals can’t stop raving about. What started as a humble stall has grown into a full-fledged bakery, thanks to biochemist-turned-baker Laura Gurbhoo.
Whether you’re vegan or not, every Instagrammable pastry is bursting with flavor and creativity. Their treats are so good you won’t even be able to tell the difference between buttery and butter-free creations.
Their cronuts are quite popular and come in unique flavors like Potato, Apple Pie, Pina Colada, and Strawberry Green Tea. If you want something new, watch out for their weekly special cronut.
My ultimate fave is their Fruit Loops Cronut. It’s 100% vegan and tastes like my childhood in pastry form—crispy, creamy, and topped with colorful, crunchy cereal.
Pro Tip: Swing by early in the day if you want the best pick; Gato’s pastries are that popular, and the fan favorites sell out fast.

Must-Order: Honey Cruller
Grand Donut Cafe & Bakery is a small, unassuming shop that offers affordable classic donuts that locals are crazy about.
Their Honey Cruller is my go-to—it’s light, airy, and coated in a delicate honey glaze that’s sweet but never over the top. Honestly, I can’t help but grab at least two every time I stop by.
I always pair this cruller with a tall, cold glass of their Nesquik Milk. It’s a very nostalgic drink—milk and chocolatey Nesquik powder that’s ridiculously satisfying.
If you prefer something fruitier, their Apple Fritter donut is another crowd-pleaser. Packed with tender apple chunks, a touch of cinnamon, and a sticky glaze, every bite feels like fall.
Pro Tip: Easily send someone the gift of Grand Donuts through Giftly. Their site and mobile app let you purchase a gift card online and have it sent instantly via email or text—you can even print or mail it for that old-school flair.

Must-Order: Original Glazed Donut
Krispy Kreme has been spreading happiness, one donut at a time, since 1937. Their mission hasn’t changed ever since—deliver fresh, delicious donuts and great coffee.
Their Original Glazed donut is the stuff of legends—light, fluffy, and coated in that signature shiny stuff that melts in your mouth the second you take a bite. The best part is that they’re reasonably priced, and there’s usually a fresh stack behind the counter.
As for drinks, you can’t go wrong with their surprisingly sophisticated-tasting Original Glazed Coffee. It’s a genius mix of steamed milk, espresso, and their signature Original Kreme flavor.
Around special holidays, Krispy Kreme rolls out adorable seasonal creations. Imagine Valentine’s heart-shaped donuts, Christmas trees, and Halloween treats like The Candy Bag, Jack-O-Lantern, and Spooky Sprinkle.
Pro Tip: If you’re dining in, go for one of their combos. You can pair a donut with a type of coffee or specialty drink at a reduced price—a perfect way to start your day.

Must-Order: Maple Bacon Donut
The Dapper Doughnut has been shilling fresh donuts since 2015, with no signs of stopping soon. Their donuts are made fresh all day long, and you can actually watch them being prepared right before your eyes.
This shop is all about customization—you get to create your own donuts by choosing the quantity, bread type, toppings, and a drink to match. From start to finish, they mix the batter fresh, fry the dough to golden perfection, and top it with goodies.
I’m obsessed with their Maple Bacon Donut, and once you’ve had one, you’ll be hooked for life. The sweet maple drizzle perfectly complements the smoky crunch of bacon bits—imagine salty and sweet in every bite.
For special gatherings (birthdays, work parties, etc.), I recommend ordering in advance for bulk orders. This saves you from long lines and guarantees you’ll get all your favorite flavors before they’re gone.
Pro Tip: When you visit, don’t be shy—go ahead and ask for a free sample! They’ll happily make you a mini-donut in any flavor you want from their menu.

Must-Order: Banana Cream French Cruller
Opened in 2014, Bronuts & Coffee has been the go-to donut hangout in Winnipeg’s Exchange District. This brother-owned shop has built a loyal following with its killer combo of specialty coffee and handcrafted brioche donuts.
What sets their donuts apart is the brioche dough itself—a mix of butter, eggs, and milk that gives each donut a rich, almost cake-like texture. They make everything fresh each morning, and the toppings and fillings are all house-made.
One of my absolute favorites is the Banana Cream French Cruller, topped with buttercream and a fresh banana slice. It’s usually available Monday to Thursday, which means you’ll probably plan your week around it (I know I do!)
Donuts are best enjoyed with a good cup of coffee. It’s a good thing they serve expertly prepared espresso drinks and fresh drip coffee sourced from local roasters.
Pro Tip: For big events or celebrations where you need to order more than five dozen donuts, you’re in luck. They offer special pricing and flavor selection for bulk orders.

Must-Order: Cinnamon Sugar Donut
If you’re strolling through the Forks Market and catch a whiff of something sweet and cinnamon-y, chances are it’s coming from the Mini Donut Factory. This local favorite is tucked right by the parking lot, just off the market Atrium.
You can watch the mini donuts being made fresh right in front of you—hot, golden, and tossed in cinnamon sugar or whatever glaze you fancy.
They’ve got all the classics covered: Original and Chocolate Glaze, as well as Cinnamon Sugar, which happens to be my personal favorite. It’s a lovely blend of sweet and warm spice that’ll keep you reaching inside the bag until you’ve polished them all.
You can grab your donuts by the half-dozen or the dozen, depending on how hungry you are. Drinks are available, too—from sodas to hot coffee.
