As a new car owner, I thought I would try to fix any issues by myself to cut down costs. Little did I know that my DIY efforts would do the opposite (although you might’ve already guessed, haha).
Don’t get me wrong, I’m a pretty decent handyman. I was just not very familiar with auto parts pricing for my particular vehicle.
Basically, the new car starter I bought was around $100 more expensive than it actually was. Needless to say, I didn’t go back to that auto parts shop again.

Owned by a husband-and-wife team, Auto Parts Center has been around since 1945. You just know you’d be dealing with legit auto parts experts.
Case in point—they carry a wide range of parts not only for domestic but also for imported vehicles. And they stock a bunch of vehicle accessories, making them a one-stop shop for upgrading your ride.
If you have a high-performance vehicle, they can help track down the right components to keep you moving.
They deliver auto parts all across Manitoba and even into parts of Ontario and Saskatchewan. What’s cool is that there’s no delivery fee—just the freight costs.
One thing we heard about that’s a bit shady—customers have complained that they don’t accept returns, even though they sent the wrong part. That can be frustrating, especially if the mix-up wasn’t on your end.

Princess Auto is a Canadian-owned company that has been around since 1933. Now, it has 55 stores across the country, an online store, and a call center.
When it comes to auto parts and tools, they have just about everything under the sun. You can find parts and gear neatly organized into categories like Auto Repair, Trailer, Truck, Hydraulics, etc.
Under Auto Repair, you’ll find everything, from steering and transmission tools to car care products and fuel transfer systems. They even offer manuals and paint supplies.
We also admire their Royal Service promise: “No sale is final until you’re satisfied.” It’s reassuring to know that they stand by their products.
Now, while most customers have had great experiences in-store, we did hear reports of sarcastic sales staff. It’s bad enough that customers are dealing with car issues—no need to dish out the attitude.

One of the best perks is their 90-day warranty—it’s nice to know you’re not gambling with your money on used components.
We did hear a few complaints from former customers. They said that some prices can be a bit steep, especially for items in high demand; make sure you do a price check before committing to a purchase.

We like that they train their staff seriously. They go through rigorous testing, and each one can rebuild engines and name every part on a vehicle.
They’re also known for their transparency. Every price tag comes with the actual cost they paid for the part, and any service is clearly broken down so you know exactly where your money is going.
A nifty 12-month warranty is also offered for all their products, meaning they’re confident in what they’re selling.
However, we heard complaints from previous customers about their staff who seemed a bit disinterested or bored. A bit of enthusiasm would go a long way in matching the quality of their service.
