5 Best Muay Thai Gyms in Winnipeg for High-Intensity Training

  • Coaching Credentials: I looked at each head coach's background and real-fight experience. This helps make sure you’re learning from trainers who have actually been in the ring.
  • Training Environment: I checked how welcoming each gym feels for beginners and casual members. A good gym should push you to improve while still making you feel safe and supported.
  • Program Options: I reviewed whether each gym offers different classes for fitness, kids, or competitive training. Having clear programs makes it easier to learn step by step at your own pace.
  • Cleanliness & Safety: I also looked at how clean the gyms are and how well they maintain their equipment. Clean mats and good gear help lower the risk of injuries and infections.

Starting Muay Thai is a powerful way to boost your fitness while picking up real-world striking skills.

However, with Winnipeg’s vibrant fight scene comes a crowded list of options. It’s tricky to decide which gym is the right fit for your specific goals, whether you’re looking to get in shape, master self-defense, or eventually step into the ring.

To help you cut through the noise, I’ve rounded up the top Muay Thai gyms in the city. Check out the guide below to find a local team that matches your schedule and training style, and start your journey today.

Friendly Coaching for Every Skill Level

Kwest is great. All the instructors are super friendly and helpful. It’s a good gym for people training at any level. Whether you’re looking to just burn some calories or are looking to train for a fight, kwest is a great place to train.

Supportive Muay Thai Environment

This gym made me fall in love with Muay Thai and kickboxing! I’ve always wanted to compete in kickboxing or MMA and when I tried this gym I was met with the most supportive coaches and staff I have ever experienced. The environment was amazing and when I hit pads for the first time and hit a knee strike I knew this sport was for me. The couches are amazing and really care about you which to me is super important when picking a gym.

Welcoming Gym With Experienced Coaches

Had the chance to train a few days at this gym while I was in town. Hands down on of the BEST environments to train at. Everyone was so encouraging and incredibly welcoming . The coaches have great experience and are really informative if you need help.  I’d highly recommend this place to anyone looking to get into the sport, trust me you’ll be hooked.

Hard Training and Clean Facilities

I’ve been training at CFC for over 4 years now and its hands down the best gym for kickboxing, Muay Thai, and MMA in the city. There’s nowhere better to get a hard work-out. If fighting is your goal, coach Giuseppe and his wealth of knowledge will mold you into a top competitor. Everything is cleaned and sanitized between classes, and the atmosphere is great. Be ready to work hard!

Dave’s Gym in Winnipeg offers a friendly, no-pressure space where you can train instead of relying on a personal trainer.

The vibe feels welcoming for all levels, and you still get solid guidance for everything from shadowboxing to footwork and light sparring.

Another plus is that they actively support competitive fighters, helping athletes prepare for events across Canada and even internationally.

I also liked hearing from a local fighter who praised the sharpness of their technical training during tournaments.

Additionally, kids can join at any age, from toddlers to teens, making them very family-friendly.

However, competitive classes are very intense, so beginners might find them overwhelming at first. Also, the 10-class passes are program-specific and cannot be shared across different styles.

Pros

  • Friendly, welcoming training space
  • Real Muay Thai training levels
  • Wide kids’ age range
  • Recreation + competition options

Cons

  • Competitive classes too intense for beginners
  • Program-specific class passes

Proper Muay Thai for the Whole Family

I’ve trained at other gyms but this by far is the best one. Coach Dave and his staff are very meticulous and care about you learning proper Muay Thai. The other senior fighters at the gym help the newer members to get better. My technique has improved a lot since joining this gym. Coach Dave is awesome with children as well. Both my kids are enrolled and they absolutely love the atmosphere and the training. All of us home to stay here for many years to come. I recommend this gym to everyone.

Friendly Trainers for Any Fitness Level

Hands down this is the best choice I’ve made training at Dave’s Gym. Everyone is very friendly and the team of trainers who make me actually want to go train. I always look forward to walking through the door and always feel amazing when I leave. I highly recommend anyone at any fitness level to join.

Safe and Supportive Gym Community

Double dragons is a fantastic gym. I trained in the kids class long ago but have been apart of the family for over 9 years. I am always grateful for the time I spend there training or not. Double dragons has always made me feel super SAFE, encouraged & supported. So some of these reviews seem questionable. Not only can you learn a lot here, you can gain a real support system and a sense of community with a lot of really great people!

Decades of Experience and Intense Training

Sir Hodge is a gem of a teacher with decades of experience under his belt. The vibe in the gym is extremely welcoming with a sense of community. The training is intense, you can hear the beautiful sound of pads & bags being smashed or ropes being skipped. If you are here to put in real work, learn skills and grow while being surrounded by good people & a solid coach. Welcome to your second home.
