5 Best Oral Surgeons in Winnipeg When It’s More Than a Toothache

  • Facility Setup: I favoured clinics with dedicated surgical spaces, on-site imaging, and proper operating rooms. Less running around is always a win.
  • Anesthesia Options: I checked what sedation choices are available, including intravenous sedation and anaesthesiologist support. Comfort matters when dental work gets complicated.
  • Service Range: I looked for surgeons who handle everything from extractions to complex jaw procedures. It’s handy when one clinic can cover more than the basics.
  • Accessibility: I considered parking, location, and multiple branches. Getting there shouldn’t feel like another procedure.
  • Patient Feedback: I reviewed recurring praise and complaints about billing, communication, and aftercare. Patterns usually tell you more than one glowing review.

I’ve been thinking about getting braces for ages, but my mouth apparently had a few other jobs on the to-do list first. Impacted teeth, possible extractions, and other issues quickly made orthodontics feel like step two rather than step one.

That’s why finding the best oral surgeon in Winnipeg became a bigger priority than picking bracket colours. I wanted someone who could handle the complicated stuff without making the whole process feel even more intimidating.

We looked at local specialists, including their facilities, anesthesia options, and patient feedback. The goal was simple: find experienced teams that can make surgery, recovery, and eventually getting those braces feel a little more manageable.

How much does it cost to see an oral surgeon in Winnipeg?

A simple extraction typically costs $145 to $205. A surgical extraction can run from $280 to $600 or more.

Wisdom tooth removal usually costs $200 to $600 or more per tooth. Having all four removed may cost around $1,500 to $3,200.

A single dental implant can cost roughly $3,000 to $5,500. Full-mouth implants are considerably pricier at around $20,000 to $50,000.

Consultations and X-rays generally cost $150 to $300. IV sedation or anesthesia may add another $500 to $900 or more.

Final fees depend on the complexity of your treatment and the specialist’s pricing. Costs may generally follow Manitoba’s provincial dental fee guidelines.

1. Maxillo Winnipeg – Dr. Kurt Scherle, Dr. Kevin Vint, Dr. Jeff Bassey, Dr. Victor Le, and Dr. Ryan Howard

Website

Address: 755 Henderson Hwy, Suite 303

Contact: 204-615-8434

Hours: Monday-Thursday, 8 AM – 3:45 PM | Friday, 7:30 AM – 3:15 PM

If I’m already nervous about oral surgery, I’d rather not spend the day bouncing between different facilities. Maxillo Winnipeg makes things easier with two dedicated surgical locations, free parking, and wheelchair access at both.

Their Henderson clinic is set up specifically for oral and maxillofacial surgery, with operating rooms and on-site imaging for anything from tricky extractions to implants.

That feels reassuring when your dental issue has moved well beyond a quick chairside fix.

I like that they handle a broad range of procedures, including wisdom teeth, bone grafting, jaw surgery, and trauma care.

Having several specialists under one roof gives you more options if your case turns out to be complicated.

The downside is that a small number of patients mention uneven front-desk communication.

Direct insurance billing may also require a consultation first, so same-day treatment isn’t always possible.

Pros

  • Two dedicated surgical locations
  • Free parking and wheelchair access
  • On-site imaging and specialized operating rooms
  • Handles extractions, implants, bone grafting, jaw surgery, and trauma
  • Multiple oral and maxillofacial surgeons on the team

Cons

  • Some patients report uneven front-desk communication
  • Direct insurance billing may require a consultation before treatment

Excellent bedside manners

Both for my son’s wisdom teeth and an extraction under sedation of my own, the team did a great job. The facilities are clean and modern, and they have excellent bedside manners. I would recommend them to anyone who requires an oral surgeon.

The oral surgeon did an amazing job

From consultation to surgery, everyone at the clinic was friendly and welcoming. Had all four wisdom teeth removed and by day two, just mild soreness — no real pain and no need for T3s. The oral surgeon did an amazing job.

2. Panorama Oral Surgery – Winnipeg

Address: 1661 Portage Ave 810

Contact: (204) 779-9100

Hours: Monday-Thursday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM | Friday, 7 AM – 3 PM

If I needed something more complicated than a standard extraction, Panorama would definitely catch my eye.

They’ve been serving Winnipeg for over 40 years and handle advanced implant cases, including Zygoma and All-on-4® treatments.

Their in-house CT scanner is another plus, especially when precise planning matters. I’d much rather have imaging and surgery coordinated in one place than make extra trips around the city.

They offer oral and intravenous sedation, with IV sedation supported by a certified anesthetist.

Do note that general anesthesia is arranged through major Winnipeg hospitals when needed, which is useful for more complex cases.

The downside is parking can be a bit limited for longer visits. Only two hours of free visitor parking are available in the east lot, so extended appointments may mean paying elsewhere.

Pros

  • Over 40 years serving Winnipeg
  • Handles advanced implant and bone-loss cases
  • Offers Zygoma and All-on-4® implant options
  • In-house CT scanner for surgical planning
  • Oral and IV sedation available

Cons

  • General anesthesia is arranged through Winnipeg hospitals, not on-site
  • Free visitor parking is limited to two hours

Walked me through the whole process

When I knew I needed my wisdom tooth to be removed, I was scared and pushed that appointment for almost two years. Obviously, the discomfort remained, so it was time for that appointment. I was referred to Panorama Clinic for this oral surgery. Dr Dale and her staff were incredibly amazing. They walked me through the whole process; they were very patient and removed my tooth nicely and fast. I strongly recommend this clinic!

My daughter feels confident and secure about her jaw surgery!

Can’t say enough wonderful things about Dr Dalgleish!! Kind, patient, friendly, skilled and made my daughter feel confident and secure about her jaw surgery!! His staff is also friendly and efficient.  Highly recommend Panorama Oral Surgery!

Hours: Monday-Saturday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM

If I’m already dealing with a mouthful of problems before braces, Assiniboia Surgical Centre feels reassuringly well set up.

It’s an accredited non-hospital facility where the surgical team can include both an oral surgeon and an anaesthesiologist.

They cover everything from extractions and implants to jaw surgery and facial trauma. I like that you can self-refer too, which saves one extra stop on the dental merry-go-round.

Both surgeons have university teaching roles, and the clinic even has a private pre-surgery area with a massage chair.

That’s a small touch, but I’ll take any help calming the nerves before surgery!

The downside is that some reviews from past clients mention longer-than-expected waits. Surgery cancellations generally need seven days’ notice, too, so last-minute changes could be inconvenient.

Pros

  • Accredited non-hospital surgical facility
  • Oral surgeon and anaesthesiologist support
  • Handles extractions, implants, jaw surgery, and facial trauma
  • Self-referral option available
  • Surgeons hold university teaching roles
  • Private pre-surgery area with a massage chair

Cons

  • Some past clients mention longer-than-expected waits
  • Surgery cancellations generally require seven days’ notice

I recommend you do it with a professional oral surgeon

Today I had my 4 wisdom teeth removed under sedation. I was so nervous and scared, but with the professional, wonderful Dr. Reda Elgazzar and the doctor for the sedation, along with wonderful professional nurses and staffing, they make it easy, relaxing dental surgery for me.

I am grateful to you all.

If you are scared or anxious about getting your teeth removed under sedation surgery, I recommend you do it with professional oral surgeon Dr. Reda Algazzar Elgazzar.

Truly a life-changing experience

Outstanding experience at Assiniboia Surgical Centre, all thanks to Dr. Shah and staff. I had my Lefort I surgery and wisdom teeth extractions in October 2024.  My healing journey took longer than anticipated, though I always felt supported, cared for, and in excellent hands with Dr. Shah. Truly a life-changing experience, and I’m grateful to have chosen Assiniboia to be part of it.

If my jaw pain were holding up my braces plans, I’d want a clinic that can look beyond just the teeth. Winnipeg Orofacial Health Centre brings oral medicine, pathology, and surgery together, which is handy when the problem isn’t obvious.

Their specialists treat temporomandibular joint disorders, facial pain, oral disease, and extractions, with in-house cone-beam computed tomography for detailed imaging.

That means fewer diagnostic detours when your mouth is already being complicated enough.

I like that you can request an appointment without waiting for a dentist referral. They offer non-surgical options too, including custom appliances and trigger-point therapy.

The catch is insurance can take a bit more legwork. Direct billing is limited to select plans, so you may need to pay upfront and claim reimbursement yourself.

Pros

  • Oral medicine, pathology, and surgery under one roof
  • Treats temporomandibular joint disorders, facial pain, and oral disease
  • In-house cone-beam computed tomography imaging
  • Self-referral appointments available
  • Offers non-surgical options like custom appliances and trigger-point therapy

Cons

  • Direct billing is limited to select insurance plans
  • Some patients may need to pay upfront and claim reimbursement themselves

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8 AM – 4 PM

If I needed oral surgery before finally getting braces, having two Winnipeg locations would make life a bit easier.

Oral Surgery Group of Winnipeg operates in both the north and south ends, which gives you more flexibility for appointments.

They handle everything from wisdom teeth and implants to jaw surgery and facial injuries. Their implant procedures can be done in a hospital-style operating suite, with trained intensive-care nurses supporting IV sedation and monitoring.

I like that some patients may qualify for single-stage implants, which can avoid a second procedure to uncover them. That’s one less surgical date to circle on the calendar.

The downside is that IV sedation requires a pre-operative consultation, fasting, and an adult driver afterward.

General anesthesia is arranged at separate surgical or hospital facilities when needed, as well.

Pros

  • Two Winnipeg locations
  • Broad range of oral and maxillofacial procedures
  • Hospital-style operating suite for implant surgery
  • Trained intensive-care nurses support IV sedation
  • Single-stage implants may reduce the need for a second procedure

Cons

  • IV sedation requires a pre-operative consultation
  • Fasting and an adult driver are required after sedation
  • General anesthesia may require a separate surgical or hospital facility
